Germany was the first country to adopt DST nationally in 1916.
Do all countries observe DST?

Why do we have DST?
It was adopted for wartime and energy-saving reasons, but modern studies usually find limited energy benefits.
Is DST going away?
Some regions are trying. The EU voted in 2019 to end seasonal changes but implementation is stalled. In the U.S., the Sunshine Protection Act passed the Senate in March 2022 and stalled in the House.
Which way do clocks move?
“Spring forward, fall back.” Clocks move ahead one hour in spring and back one hour in autumn where DST is used.
